Family Fun Night!

Rich had a fun idea to design an online invitation and email the link to his parents and to Jeff and Jackie for a Family Fun Night at our house. So, last Saturday night, we had dinner (Crock Pot Taco Soup) and a movie (Secondhand Lions) and spent the evening enjoying each other. After dinner, Rich proceeded to make some amazing brownies and we popped some Kettle Corn for the movie. We only took a couple of shots, but here they are!

Here’s Jackie (and our super fun old-fashioned popcorn canisters that my mom sent to me :)

Game Night with the Read’s

Last Friday night Rich and I got together with our good friends, Jeff and Amber. We had been alternating homes every other week to watch 24 (one of the VERY FEW TV shows that we watch, and WELL worth the heart attacks I suffer whenever we do), but since we got all caught up and have no more to watch, we decided it was time for some good old-fashioned game time. We busted out the deck of cards and Jeff and Amber taught us how to play “Golf”. The game was quite fun and I actually got the hang of it, even though I came in last place. I like to think it was because there was so much luck involved. Had it been a strategy-only game, I am sure I would have fared better :) Or maybe not;) Anyhow, here are some fun shots from our game night with the Read’s.

Amber and Heather…

This is Richard’s angry face…he wasn’t doing too well through the first few rounds of “golf.” Being actual golf buddies, Jeff kept making fun of Rich, saying that his card game of golf was much like his real life game of golf…a little weak!

Here I am being feisty…

Meet Greyson, Jeff and Amber’s doggie. He is much fun and hyper most of the time, but relatively calm on this evening. Here he is helping with the dishes!!! Where can I get one of these???

IMG_4007.jpg

I love this shot that Rich got - focusing on the bamboo on the table while Greyson is happily attacking Amber in the background. I wish I had the patience of my husband, who actually reads manuals and online tutorials to learn more about our awesome SLR camera.

For anyone who knows Jeff Read, this is a VERY authentic picture. He is so predictable. If Rich and I go to the Read’s, we can COUNT on eating refrigerated Nestle Toll House chocolate chip cookies…the Mini’s kind. Jeff maintains that the package that has 40 mini cookies (as opposed to fewer, normal sized cookies) bake better, and taste perfect every time. And so, there are always one or more packs of them in their fridge. I think Jeff eats some every night. How he stays so thin, I have NO idea! We love you, Jeff!

Father’s Day 2006!

We had my wonderful in-laws and Rich’s brother Jeff and wife Jackie over to our place for Father’s Day. We ate Rich’s scrumptous grilled chicken breasts, super yummy mashed potatoes and Jackie’s squash cassarole. Soooooo good! I never liked squash until she cooked that magical recipe and voila! Squash can taste amazing when you add all kinds of fatty ingredients to it!

We ate lunch and had a blast, and then Rich emerged from the kitchen to serve us his AMAZING New York Style Cheesecake topped with perfectly sweetened strawberries. Rich is a REALLY good husband to have for a girl who adores cheesecake :)

Here are some shots of our fun day. And as always, I love and miss my dad who is far away in Fort Lauderdale. Thankfully, we will be seeing him and the rest of the family THIS Friday night. Vacation, here we come!!!

Jeff and Jackie! July will be thier one-year anniversary! Congratulations on one great year, guys!

Date Night!

Rich and I got to go out last week to one of our favorite restaurants - J Alexanders and ate yummy Emerald Coast Shrimp and Steak Maui! Here are a couple of fun shots we took on our way out the door.

New Splash page!

Palm TreeWhat’s a splash page!? It’s a page on your website that serves absolutely no purpose except as a gateway into your webpage. The splash page is the first thing you see when you come to our website. It just gives visitors an extra click to get to the actual website. Pointless, I know. Most people don’t have them. We do. We’ve had one from basically day one. From the days when I had no idea what I was doing.

But with that said about our splash page, do I erase it? Nope. I just changed it to make it look better. Call me a sucker for tradition. :) Since most people have our blog actually bookmarked and get to our website that way, most of you haven’t seen our new splash page. So please, go see it. You can just click here: http://richandheathersmith.com. Just go there, click on the enter and it will take you straight back here. Go ahead… don’t worry, I’ll wait.

Okay, since you’ve seen it now, I designed it in honor for our Florida vacation that’s coming up in a week! And when you pressed the enter button, I’ll give you three guesses what I’m excited about (Heather is too… making just another reason why I love her so much). It comes out about the same time we go down to Florida!

I photoshopped the picture with this technique to make it look like the photo was taken from a special camera made in St. Petersburg Russia called the Lomo LC-A camera. Cool effect! So what do you guys think?

New Friends!

Rich and I had a blast with Nathan and Amber and their awesome kids, Austen and Addison. We had them over for dinner and enjoyed getting to hear about their business which we have admired for a while. They are truly wonderful people and amazing photographers - check out their websites: www.holritzphotography.com and www.holritzphotography.net. We are looking forward to getting to know them better! Here are a couple of self portraits we took - very fun!

We had to re-take the photo several times since I kept disappearing behind Rich. But I still love this one below because of Austen’s priceless smile!

Babysitting Nathan!

IMG_3920.JPGIMG_3909.JPGIMG_3908.JPG

I had a great time babysitting little Nathan for my dear friend Naomi. He is so much fun, and just keeps getting more and more adorable! We spent the afternoon together, going for a walk all over the neighborhood, watching “finding Nemo,” and talking on Heather’s cell phone. Nathan kept picking up my phone and saying “Hewo, hewo…”

Rich and Cali

I thought these pictures were awesome. This is Cali on Rich’s shoulder while he is working on web design, and it almost looks like she is interested in what he is working on! She’s pretty darn cute and must share his passion for web design. For now, the bunnies are our kiddos :)

The Fun of Fundraising

I had a great time planning our second annual golf tournament for the Chattanooga Youth Network. We had 27 teams, and added a morning round this year. It was tons of fun, and the weather turned out to be great. my wonderful husband set up shop at hole 10 to ensure that we got pictures of every team throughout the day. He did a great job, and here are some of the images.

This picture is of me registering the players…then I got to just have a blast driving around the food and beverage cart and meeting people from all over the city…youth pastors and business owners and presidents and executive directors. I really enjoy meeting people since everyone has a story! And I love the course at Windstone, such a gorgeous place!

A great picture of my honey…preparing to be the tournament photographer.

I was excited that pastor Frank and Kenny got to play again this year, but we missed Erik. Robbie Croxall got to play and the guys (obviously) had a great day of golf. Here is their ghetto pose. Wow. Those are our pastors. Does that seem hilarious to anyone else??? Ha! I love these guys.
