It just occured to me that, even though we’ve taken lots of pictures of our little (bunny) girls, we’ve never posted a blog about them. The purpose of doing that now is two-fold. One, I just think Holland Lop bunny rabbits are the cutest animal that exists and want to show them to you, and two, we are trying to sell them, so what better way than pictures on the internet?
You might be thinking, “Ok, so you think they are adorable, yet you want to sell them, Heather?” You sound confused.”
I’m glad you asked. Well, yes, I think they are wonderfully cute, but Rich and I are so busy that they just don’t get the attention that they deserve. They deserve to be let out of thier cage to hop around. We work during the day, and have commitments on many weeknights. It’s kind of why we don’t have kids yet. We don’t feel quite ready for the responsibility. But I promise, when we decide to have kids, I won’t post pictures of them on our blog and try to sell them
Okay, so this is Hailey Smith…
And this is Cali Smith…
Cali helping Rich with his webdesign…
They didn’t know each other when we bought them, but they have since become soul mates…
I personally think that this blog needs to generate comments about pets. Do you have them? Why or why not? Do you dislike animals or love them? (Rich and I are definitely somewhere in between). Do you make a sad groaning sound when you pass a dead pet on the side of the road, or do you laugh? Do you like the people who love animals, or do you think they all need to move somewhere together and only talk to each other about their pets? Are you annoyed with me for even devoting a blog post to my bunnies? Do tell.

Very cute (are guys allowed to say that word?)! I love the the second picture of you Heather! Definitely an animal lover here!
Hmmm… love dogs but only big dogs. They’re lovable and trainable. But they need space to run so they’re out.
Cats are mostly dumb and selfish. I’m glad they’re dumb because if they ever found out that we drove a kitten to commit suicide, they’d attack me in my sleep!
Bunnies are cute and… okay, well cute is the only thing bunnies are.
A house broken monkey might be fun if you could teach it to fend for itself while we are at work, at church, running around doing errands, at friends houses, out of town and generally doing life.
Nathan takes the lead for the fastest reply to a post. Heidi will have to try harder next time.
I wonder how Nathan and Amber would react if they found the rabbit cage at their house when they come home on Saturday? {insert evil laugh here}
Wow…honey, Nathan won quickest but you definitely won longest!
After I saw Rich’s comment, I almost didn’t want to be a part of this. I don’t really care for animals EXCEPT for kitties. I, of course, have one (Sydney) and she is really the only cat that I really love although I think they are all cute (except for the hairless ones).
I don’t care for dogs but I think puppies are cute and I think bunnies are cute and taste good too (:
Of course I don’t think it’s dumb to blog about your animals. Some of my favorite articles I have written are about animals!
Wow, lot’s of animal debate around here! I am definately an animal lover. Cats not so much, mostly b/c Kyle & I are both allergic to them. Bunnies are very cute, but I’ve never had one so I can’t really attest to their companionship or not. Dogs are my favorites! I prefer small dogs (like Bailey) mostly b/c they snuggle and can curl up with you, which is much harder to do with a large dog. Although, I do love big dogs, but since I don’t run, and we don’t have a big back yard, we’ve had to rule out a big dog for now. Let’s see, fish. I like fish b/c the responsibility level is no where near a dog. Lizards, things of that nature are not pets in my mind, but to each his own. Rich & Heather, the bunnies are cute, but no we can’t buy them from ya-I think Bailey and a new baby is more than enough for now!
Okay, Richard. Is this a side of you that you hid from me all these years?? Do you want me to drag out the pictures of you cuddling our kitties we had while you were growing up?? What’s the statement about driving a kitten to commit suicide? That sounds awful and really mean.
Now then, I believe I’ve mentioned this, Heather, I like big dogs-preferably labrador retrievers or like kind. I like most dogs anyway though–like the Benji dog next door to us–it’s an attitude thing–period. Same with cats. Some I like and some I don’t care for their attitude. We’re blessed that both cats we have are sweet but are playful and fun to have around. I’ve had some that weren’t–a lesson in how to overcome and love anyway whenever you have to take care of something. Pets teach you some godly traits through their behavior (Yeah, I’ve got stories)!
Sorry you need to sell your bunnies. I hope and pray that the right person will take them both.
the bunnies are cute, but no we can’t buy them from ya
Who says anything about buying? To a good home (and to our friends) they’re free! To a bad home where there are small children that will abuse them and who don’t understand the words “pet them GENTLY”, we’ll sell them for no less than $50.
If you’re going to eat them, it would work out best if you didn’t tell us. Not pointing any fingers here — KELLIE!
Oh, and mom, it’s just a short little story about us trying to HELP and RESCUE a young kitten but instead of allowing us to help it, it jumped off a bridge.
Honey, you are gonna have to stop making fun of cats or kellie won’t want to be my friend much longer.
Backpedaling are we, hmmmmm, Richard??
Do I drag out the other pictures of your pulling the cat’s fur whenever you were in your crawling stage?? “But Momma, it feels so “pullable” and the cat doesn’t mind having her fur all pulled out!” Maybe there’s something there that I didn’t realize??? Poor kitty—
Here, here. I officially qualify myself as the person with the most expertise in the pet area!!! Okay, so as Heather and Richard know, Jonathan and I have owned 8 (or is it 9) animals since we have been married. Some of you may be thinking that I am crazy…but if you ever come to visit good ol’ South Dakota you will understand - There isn’t much to do out here. So we started a hobby - buying pets! First it was Shadow, the sweetest, dumbest dog you will ever meet. Thanks to Aunt Heather and Uncle Richard for watching him while we were away those two months! Sorry about the siding! Then came Lady another puppy (in a good home now), Milo and Otis our two gerbles (R.I.P little guys), then Benzy (Benson) our first cat and oh, I forgot to mention Jonathan’s dog that we shipped out here from Florida because his parents were moving and could not take her to the apartment. She died a while ago at the ripe old age of 15. Were was I…? Oh, then Kenya, the coolest cat in the world. Come to find out that we, along with the majority of the U.S, are allergic to cats (Bye Benson and Kenya) Last, and hopefully least is Ali. She is a black cock-a-poo and just the sweetest dog you will ever meet. We still have Shadow (a german shepherd, rotty mix) who is about 60 pounds but thinks that he is Ali’s size and will literally jump into your lap as you are sitting at the computor! Needless to say I love animals, but I think moderation is the key
They are a huge respondisibilty and I have learned a lot about myself through them. Example- no kids for a while! Sorry this one was a novel, but when you’ve owned as many animals as make up a zoo it usually takes a while to name them all! I love you guys. Good luck in your endeavors. I hope the bunnies find good homes. If you tried to sell them here they would definately be shot and eaten.
Ha! Amber you never fail to crack me up. You just won the prize for the longest comment ever!
I was reading your comment very carefully with the knowledge that I might stumble across a pet name that I wasn’t familiar with since you two buy pets like you buy shampoo. I was happy to find that I already knew about all of them!
At least I am up to date on your pets, even if we play phone tag like crazy! I love you!
AS you know, about the only pets we have owned are the pets that Amber dragged home after “rescuing” them… That explains why Amber has had 18 pets in two years. She was pet-deprived as a child. However, girls, I AM enjoying this Chinese Water Dragon Shawn has now. THe only creepy thing about him is that I have to take Shawn to buy crickets and worms. If Shawn is not around to go buy them with me, the lizard starves. I refuse to handle bugs and worms. End of story.
Mom, you’re like the coolest mom EVER since you like your teenage son’s Chinese Water Dragon. I think that puts you in the category of ultra cool!
So what is the serving size on those bunnies? If you could get 2 servings per bunny, then you could sell them along with 2 movie tickets and call it “Dinner and a Movie.” You might even consider throwing in a box of Uncle Bens… or something so that it doesn’t end up being an all-meat meal.
