Wow. We’ve been bad bloggers lately. It has been an interesting and challenging month, actually. But more on that later. I will write a post soon about what’s been going on regarding my back pain. For now, be sure to check out both blog posts that I just published!
On Sunday Rich and I had a super enjoyable and relaxing day together. After the awesome church service and hearing all about the Romania team mission update, we headed off to utilize the Rock City Corn Maze tickets I won from a drawing at my chiropractor. I win things frequently, by the way, but that’s a whole other blog post! And no, I will not purchase a lottery ticket for you! Shame on you for asking!
For those of you out-of-towner’s who are not aware, Rock City itself is on Lookout Mountain, which sits in Chattanooga and shares it’s property between Georgia and Tennessee. For many years and for hundreds of miles surrounding Chattanooga, red barns (like the one below) along highways and rural roads boast this “See Rock City” message for travelers to see. I love noticing new barns every time I travel in the area.
So we arrive and set off to conquer the maze!
We periodically come upon these signs, and taking the correct direction is contingent upon answering the questions accurately. So we stop and ponder the trivia…
We decide that the NFL record for the longest field goal is indeed 63 yards, so we choose “c” and continue on our way…
{side note: my dad would be so proud! All those years of father-daughter bonding while rooting for our team (the Miami Dolphins) has paid off. It has endowed me with random statistics that would one day allow me to navigate through this corn maze. End of side note}.
We stop for a little view of the fall trees…
And I get distracted, momentarily thinking that I am modeling among corn stalks and not simply trying to find my way out of a dumb maze…
And Rich gets distracted, with delusions that I am a maiden in distress who needs to be rescued from enemy corn husks. He pulls a Jet Li move and I catch it just in time to share it with you.
More pretty trees…and we find our way out of the maze in about an hour! So what that the average time people took was 45 minutes! We had a good time!
Also this weekend, Kyle and Heidi were back in town since they just bought a house here in Chattanooga! Yay! Congratulations again, guys! They are pregnant with their first child, Kyle just started a new job, they bought a house (and are ambitiously renovating), and Heidi is valiantly completing schooling before the baby comes in April… all the while they are commuting between Indianapolis and Chattanooga for the home-buying process. We are praying for them!!! Kyle lived with us for a couple of weeks while trying to close on the house, and he was the lowest maintenance house guest ever! Very impressive.
So, Bri and Trevor had us over this weekend and we had a blast together, as usual. Here we are after a round of Cranium…Bri and Trevor managed to accrue tons of luck and beat us all.
Rich and I managed to get slaughtered by both teams - we chalk it up to poor luck as it related to the feisty dice.
I didn’t get a chance to post a couple of pictures that I took earlier in the month with Kellie. She and I went to an all-day scrapbooking event and had SO much fun! We have very different scrapping styles, so it’s always a ton of fun to scrapbook with her and be challenged to think outside my creative box and repertoire of ideas. I LOVE spending time with her scrapbooking or not!
We went shopping a bit afterwards and we saw the ugliest skirt ever at Target. Honestly, this skirt was so ugly that I just felt compelled to put it on and take a picture. No, not in the dressing room. In the middle of the clothing section of Target over my jeans. We laughed so hard and wondered if people would actually buy one of these. If you like this skirt and would consider buying one, please don’t tell me. I would rather not know.
