…more rich and heather photos from OSP…

I know we’ve posted a blog or two from our time modeling for OSP South, the photographer’s conference back in November, but we just had to share another! Davina Fear is a friend and photographer that we met at OSP while modeling for the group. She is incredibly sincere and entirely too much fun to be around! As a super busy photographer, she just now had an opportunity to edit the images from our session, and just sent us an email saying they were up on her blog!

Rich and I admire her work so much, and I think you will see why! These are some of our favorites from this session, and you can see more here on her blog. Enjoy!

On a side note, for those of you who enjoy baby sessions, Rich just posted an incredible slideshow on his professional blog, which you can check out here!

flirt with your spouse…

Ya, you read that right.

I’m thinking about marriage and all of the different things that make marriage work, and better than that, make it thrive. One of the (four) books I’m reading is Jim Burns book “Creating an Intimate Marriage.” It has great advice on affection, warmth, and affirmation, and how those things fuel a marriage (and how ultimately, it is our relationship with God that allows us to love each other the way He calls us to).

There is a fun section called “Flirt!” and he takes the following suggestions from Doug Fields book “100 Fun and Fabulous Ways to Flirt with your Spouse.” I don’t usually read books with titles such as this, since they seem to be trite and the suggestions often not-so-appealing. But I liked these few ideas, so read on and remember to flirt with your honey today :)

1. Write a love story about how you met and get it printed and bound (you can handwrite something like this, or do it digitally).
2. Whisper something romantic to your spouse in a crowded room.
3. Mail a love letter to your spouse at work (I loved this one!).
4. Remember to look in your spouse’s eyes when he/she tells you about his/her day.
5. Snuggle together on the sofa and reminisce through old photo albums.

On another note, we will be leaving for Fort Lauderdale on Friday afternoon, so our next blog post will definitely be about our fun family times! Keep an eye out for photos of our summer vacation!

Fun at the Park!

I had the awesome opportunity to do a photo shoot for some good friends last week, Mikie and Naomi and their very active son Nathan and adorable baby Ethan. We enjoyed blowing bubbles, kick ball, and quality time at Coolidge Park. Nathan even found some time for a dip in the ever-popular fountain! He provided us with much entertainment, as you will see in the photos!

Mikie and Naomi, I had a blast with you guys and Heather and I are so thankful for your friendship! I hope you enjoy your photos…you all were naturals!

we still don’t know!

To serve as quick update, Rich and I wanted everyone to know that we had a very anticlimactic appointment today! We were thoroughly convinced that we’d find out, but due to an interfering placenta and Baby Smith’s uncooperative positioning, we left none the wiser.

Rather than wait the full four weeks for our next prenatal appointment, we decided to go back in at the end of next week…right before we leave for our Fort Lauderdale vacation! It would be fun to tell my family in person, so pray that next week bears much more exciting news!!!

We will be sure to blog the news once family is informed!

Thank you all for your hilarious and sweet comments, and for being part of our lives. We love you!

Jason and Kellie

I love how God orchestrates friendships.

A year ago I began a summer bible study at church with a small group of women I didn’t know at all. The funny thing is, I didn’t have the world’s best attitude about my particular group…I was a bit frustrated that I managed to land in a small group in which I shared no relationships in the midst of a church where I had already established many great relationships. I prayed that God would use this small group in spite of my initial hesitation…and He definitely answered my prayer and blew me away with a very meaningful friendship and a wonderful small group experience!

Kellie and I have been getting to know each other and enjoying our friendship over the past year. We share a love for scrapbooking, reading, peanut m&m’s, warm summer days in the pool, a love for our amazing husbands (and their hommemade coffee and cheesecake), and much, much more. Kellie has become the kind of girlfriend who I feel entirely comfortable to be myself, regardless of my mood. We enjoy energetic, excited conversation a good bit of the time, and we also feel thoroughly comfortable sitting in silence while thinking about our scrapbooking layouts. I am so thankful for you, Kellie!

Tomorrow (Monday) is Kellie’s birthday, and Rich and I want to wish her a happy, happy birthday! We hope this one tops the charts!

If you know Jason and Kellie, this slideshow will reiterate all of the things you love about them. If you don’t know them, this slideshow will make you wish you did!

Kudos to my wonderful husband for capturing Jason and Kellie’s personalities in such a beautiful, artistic way!

And our customary end-of-session self-portrait…only this time, the prerequisite must have been to look like an idiot!

If you are one of those “glance-at-the-blog-but-skip-the-slideshow” people, you need to deviate from your bad habits and hit the play button this time! This slideshow is too good to pass up! Sit back, crank up the volume, and enjoy!

Jason and Kellie, we love you guys and we hope you guys enjoy your slideshow!

current status of the baby bump…

Hey everyone! Several of you have complained about the inadequacy of our baby belly posts, so here’s a recent one for you! Rich took this while we were out doing a session for our good friends Jason and Kellie…their photos are soon to come, and VERY fun! Be sure to check back!

We were enjoying a beautiful evening and Rich grabbed this shot of me with my belly in view. I’m 18 weeks pregnant this weekend, and we will find out this Tuesday if we are having a boy or girl! Call or email us on Tuesday evening if you want to know…otherwise we are planning to call our families and then post a blog a couple of days later!

the launch of Rich’s professional blog!!!

rsp

Will everyone join with me to congratulate Rich on the launch of his professional blog, richsmithphotography.com!

For those of you who check out our personal blog on a regular basis, there will be some overlap between the personal and professional blog. You will find that photographs & slideshows of friends and family will appear on our personal blog and may also appear on the professional blog. However, as Rich is hired to shoot for people we do not know, those posts will only appear on his professional site. We will continue to save our personal blog just for photos and stories of our lives and the people we know and love!

So, if you enjoy looking at his images, click on the link above and check out what he has been up to lately! There are several awesome sessions that do not appear on our personal blog! Have fun!

And of course, if anyone you know needs a photographer, send them to the new site!!!
