Okay, some of you will love this post and some of you will just have to humor me
Whether you are pregnant, have children, or would just consider buying these for a gift, I have found the world’s cutest baby socks.
The brand is Trumpette, and they are sold on this main website as well as several others if you do a Google search. I’m posting pictures of the girls sets since we are having a girl…but for those of you with baby boys or if you need a gift for a baby boy, you have to check them out on the website!
They are all so precious, and are made to look like different styles of shoes! And, they come in a completely gift-ready little box!
They have ballerina socks…
And Mary Jane’s…I own this set! My dear friend Kellie bought these for me the second she found out we are having a girl! She completely made my week and these are sitting in Baby Smith’s nursery, ready for her little feet!
These are my personal favorites for a sentimental reason…my nickname for my sister has been “pixie” for years, so this name just makes me so happy!
These are called “Jenny’s” and they have a set for boys called “Johnny’s”.
Okay, I’m done! I just HAD to share! I want them all, and I figured I couldn’t be the only one who thinks they are the cutest things ever!!!
Well, it always goes by too quickly, but I savor the time I have when my mom takes her annual trip up to Highlands, N.C. to spend some time with her best friend and then ventures to Chattanooga to spend a few days with Rich and I. For the past three years, she’s been here on her birthday, so we have the fun opportunity to celebrate with her.
But this trip was pretty unique…Rich and I had a prenatal appointment scheduled during the time she was here, and we thought it would be a fun idea to invite both of our moms to join us and meet their grandaugher on ultrasound!
So on Monday, we met up at the Dr’s office and everyone enjoyed seeing Baby Smith (whose name will be announced in our next blog!) all stretched out, with legs crossed This is my mom’s first grandbaby, and my mother-in-law’s fifth! It was so fun to have them both with us!
Afterwards, we had a “girls lunch” at Olive Garden and enjoyed each other’s company very much! Rich took these pictures of us when we got back to the office…we needed some girl only pictures!
I just love this next picture…it’s so fun. I am six months pregnant this weekend, and believe me, you can tell from the side! I should have stood differently in this picture and it would have done my belly more justice! Next time I’ll do better!
Here is the ONE picture the three of us took together while mom was here…
And her birthday celebration…we went our to eat at J-Alexanders and had wonderful food, and then back to our house for some hommemade New York Style Cheesecake with fresh berries on top (for mom’s birthday cake). It was delicious!
Happy, happy birthday, mom! And thank you for letting us share it with you. As you know, we love you very much and can’t wait for the next time! I loved our time together!
Rich and I had gone to their home for dinner a couple of months ago and Rich grabbed some fun family photos in Tim and Steph’s bedroom with their awesome little men: Reece, Evan (aka “Bubba”) and Lake.
Steph has an affinity for family feet photos, so Rich willingly complied and this amazing image resulted!
Steph, we know that you’ve had much to go through this past year, and we just want you to know that we love you, admire you, and are praying for you. It’s been so encouraging to watch how you have dealt with your health complications, and letting God teach you valuable things through it all. We know you’ve relied on HIS strength to pull you through, and He has allowed you to continue to be an amazing wife, mom, and friend in the process!
We hope that this photo makes your day God certainly has his hand on your family, and has great things in store!
Words always come up short when I try to express how thankful I am for my family or the joy it brings my heart to be with them.
For our summer vacation this year, we did lots of the same enjoyable things of years past…beaching, laughing, gaming, chatting, relaxing, and tv-ing.
Here I am at the beach, just wading out into the water. Rich just got a really cool, artistic blown-out look on this one. I love the way it looks!
Here’s my “little” HUGE brother (he’s 5′11″ at 13) teaching my bro-in-law to skim board. Shawn is excellent at it, and Jonathan caught on much faster than most people!
And us girls just totally relaxing in the abnormally serene surf. The beach was like a giant swimming pool on this particular day and was the most calm any of us had EVER seen it! This called for a raft and some floating!
Oh, man. For those of you who like ultra simple computer games and have some time to waste, do we have the game for you! Kitten Cannon is hilarious and totally sadistic. It involves shooting a kitten out of a canon and waiting to see how far it launches it before it dies.
The boys just thought this was the best thing ever and played it incessantly whenever we had down time. The girls enjoyed it too, but the boys were entertained by it FAR longer than we were. I attribute this phenomenon to the male brain’s ability to compartmentalize thinking processes and enter their “Nothing Box.” They can be wise and mature and engaging one moment and completely enraptured by the most elementary thing the next. It is truly astounding
This is Daddy Lashbrook playing Kitten Cannon…
And while we’re on the topic of testosterone-induced activities, here is a photo taken of Rich and Shawn’s apple-explosion experiment. Yes, they used fireworks to kill this poor apple since they couldn’t wait for the 4th of July to blow something up.
We celebrated mom and Amber’s birthdays a couple of weeks early since we were all together, and we surprised mom with an ipod. Group gifts are so much fun…and surprising people with something they want — but didn’t think they were going to get — is even better!
Amber and Jonathan taught us a new game they have learned from some friends in South Dakota. It’s called “Up and Down the River,” but for some reason I had a mental block and continued to call it “Up the Creek and Down the River,” which was the brunt of many a joke. That’s okay, I can take it. Oddly, I think I rather like being made fun of by people I love.
We all loved the game and dad and Rich were neck-and-neck the whole time. My hubby prevailed and dad was pretty gracious about it!
And here is #1, 2, 3, and 4 from our night of laser tag! Yes, these are the champions.
I won a prize, too, I was the very LAST place in a very large group of people during our first round.
It was SO MUCH FUN, and I highly recommend this as a “family bonding” activity. Nothing like shooting each other to really feel the love!
We ended our vacation with a night out for Transformers and the Cheesecake Factory. Wow. It was delicious and we dined on all things tasty. Here’s our last picture together as a family from Summer Vacation 2007.

Well, before we left for vacation last week (fun family pictures soon to come!), Rich and I ventured off to our doctor in hopes of finding out whether God is giving us a boy or girl.
At the suggestion of some friends and family members, I decided to treat myself to a caffeinated beverage to encourage as much, uh, anatomy-bearing baby movement as possible!
And so, with my Cinnamon Dulce Starbucks Latte in one hand and my sweet husbands hand in the other, I made my way into the now-familiar ultrasound room.
Here I am waiting for Dr. Barker to enter the room, pretty giddy from anticipation…or is that the sugar and caffeine???
And there’s the baby bump…growing ever-so-steadily…
Here we are with the the ultrasound photo that made us completely ecstatic and even more ready to meet our little one!
And here we are with Dr. Barker. Yep, he’s young, but he is smart, kind, considerate, informative, and, best of all, he is a Christian! What more could we ask for? We hope he is on-call when I go into labor, because Rich and I just love him and want him to deliver our baby!
And here is our baby’s first toy…
And our baby’s first outfit…
And so, there you have it! We are pleased to announce that Baby Smith is a girl! Now is the time for all of you intuitive friends and family members to comment and brag that “you just KNEW it was a girl!”
