Some updates from our week…
Here’s Alana and I at Moe’s, waiting to meet up with Rich and my in-laws!
And a sequence of high chair pictures that we took last week…
At a 5 months, Alana hadn’t been eating her rice cereal very well. I was never able to get her to take a full feeding of it, so I began to get a little concerned when she didn’t seem to be growing from month 4 (when I started the rice cereal) to month 5.
I took her to the Pediatrician a week ago; and sure enough, she hadn’t gained weight all month. Not an ounce. And as many of you know, a baby is supposed to gain half an ounce to a full ounce every day. She was 6.5 pounds when she was born, and was gaining well. She went from the 50th percentile at her two month visit, to the 25th percentile at her four month visit, all the way down to the 10th percentile (12 pounds) when I brought her in last week at 5 months old. So sad!
I was instructed to go ahead and begin feeding her solids, starting with vegetables, and bring her back in for another weight check in a week.
So, it became my mission to chunk up the babe! I spent quite a bit of energy ensuring that she fed long enough, and I introduced her very first meal: carrots. This is a photo of Alana’s very first meal…
And boy, was she ready for it! What she lacked in spoon-feeding technique she made up for in enthusiasm. She made a disgusting mess but most of this 2.5 ounce jar made it’s way into her infant-sized tummy each day, and now, a week later, has produced a 5 ounce weight gain!
We have been victorious!
I am hoping that amid the carrots, squash, and sweet potatoes, this next week produces more gaining and a healthy little Alana!
Then, Wednesday was an intimate little gathering at Mikado, a bit smaller than our average PUG group, but enjoyable nonetheless.
Nathan filled us in on the latest Pictage news and we dined on Mikado’s consistently tasty Chinese/Japanese entrees.
Two of my favorite people! Nathan and Amber!
I am so blessed. My amazing man and my adorable (bald) daughter. What more could one ask for? Other than hair…
Me and Alana…my twelve-pound-five-ouncer! She’s still wearing three-month-old clothes
An attempt to include Addy in the photo:
And success! We managed to include her head in this one! Isn’t she precious?
The miniature group, complete with Michelle Mckibben and her precious daughter!
Amber had my camera here and cut herself completely out. She’s used to using her wide-angle gem of a point-and-shoot, so she was probably sorely disappointed with mine!
And here we at least have half of her face!
Thanks for the good times and valuable information, guys! We love you!
