For being such an informative time, today was entirely too much fun.
Amber Holritz is hands down one of my favorite people to listen to – both in the photography world and outside of it.
Today she hosted her very first Moms with Cameras Workshop, and it was a wonderful day; combining all of my favorite elements: friends, learning, laughter, and interaction! There were even a couple of men brave enough to sign up! I was so impressed!
Somehow Amber managed to pack into a six hour day what should have taken a week! We learned the technical camera basics, rules of composition, utilizing light, and capturing the moment. And she did an amazing job DESPITE the fact that her entire presentation file corrupted this morning right before everyone arrived! Can we say stressful?
Even though he has tons of work to do, Rich spent the day hanging with Alana so that I could get the most out of the workshop, and I so appreciate him!
I enjoyed practicing some of the things I’m learning while Amber presented, so I will start with a few images from that…
Amber manages to be totally beautiful and cute at the same time. And she’s a fantastic speaker because she’s articulate, knowledgeable, relatable, approachable, and FUN! I love her.
Then I had a little fun while everyone was working on their camera settings. I was experimenting with different ISO settings, shutter speeds, and exposure compensation, and I loved being part of all the learning that was going on! It’s so inspiring and energizing to learn, don’t you think?
Then, when the workshop wound down, Kellie and I stepped outside to play for a few minutes. I grabbed a few shots of her, and I think she’s got some of me that you may see added to this blog post soon!
Oh my gosh, how cute is she???
Sun begins to set…
Kellie taking photos of me taking photos of her…
And a little post-workshop relaxing…
And iPhone playing…
Amber! Thank you so much for being the epitome of a lovecat! You are awesome for being willing to share your knowledge and experience!
You already know that I love you so I don’t need to say anything more! By the way, I processed my first batch of images tonight using my new Lightroom software and even used the Holritz BW Presets
Are you so proud???

What an awesome day! Great pictures Heather
I see a pro photographer in the making!
Wish I could have come! But Amber wouldn’t have let me in with “my” camera, would she?
See you soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds as though Rich is getting a team player in this photography business. Go Heather!
The day sounds perfect for you already talented “wanna bes”. What a wonderful gift from Amber.
Heather –
Looks like great fun!!! Can you bring the class to North Carolina?
Yes! I second long distance learning. I’ll host a class in MD, just need Amber or you to teach!
Great photos Heather!
Yay! Stealing these to blog right now
What a crazy crazy day. loves.
Heather, the girl in the pink sweater looks like my nephew’s wife, Kimberly Evers. She lives in Knoxville. Is that her?
