tea party heaven…

Bri, Heidi and I have been friends since our very first semester of college back in 1999. It’s so strange to think that we’ve actually known each other that long. Living in dorm rooms right next to each other those ten years ago paved the way for lifelong friendships and many, many laughs.

It was truly surprising to me that the three of us ended up staying to live  in Chattanooga. Heidi’s from Texas, Bri from Virginia, and as my blog readers know, I grew up in Texas, California, and Florida. So for us to live in Tennessee is nothing short of an unexpected blessing. Here I have to state that one of my other BEST friends from college, Cami, is not here, which makes college-friend-time quite bittersweet.

To be truthful, I do not get together with Bri and Heidi as often as I want to — it’s for all of the commonplace reasons — full-fledged busy-ness, living all the way across town from one another, etc. But when we got together on Saturday morning, we decided to remedy that! We had planned a tea/banana bread/scrapbook party and it was absolutely wonderful to see them and to laugh hysterically at our old photos. We determined that it would be nice to plan a Saturday morning get-together once a month, which I am very happy about!

I brought my wonderful tea pot…

And my favorite teas…

I gained a love for hot teas when I spent 10 days in Ireland my sophomore year of college. “Tea and biscuit” time was twice daily, and it became one of my favorite memories from my time there! Add a little milk and a tiny bit of sugar, and the result was heaven in a cup.

And Heidi made some delicious raspberry scones…

And Bri some perfect, warm, melty chocolate chip banana bread. Yum. So yum.

And all 3 of us promised to have college photos ready and waiting. This is my college scrapbook, containing all 4 years of my time at Covenant College – “The castle in the clouds.” I get so warm and fuzzy when I take time to remember my college days. Very nostalgic. It was an incredible college experience, complete with a wide range of emotions from personal growth and development, intellectual challenge, friendships formed, and faith strengthened.

We laughed and laughed at the photos of us looking like little kids! And to my own personal chagrin, there are more than a few “chubby heather” photos in these pages 🙂 Yes, I gained my freshman fifteen. It may have even been twenty 😉

My girls! Thanks to Kyle for these shots!

Thank you so much for a perfect Saturday afternoon, girls! It was exactly what I needed! And man, those babies napped well for us! 🙂

It is amazing how much we have all grown up. I remember when all the girls came down for a Florida visit…gosh I was obsessed with seeming “cool” to you guys. You are all so beautiful…you have grown from pretty girls to beautiful women. That includes you Cami 🙂
