living in TN!!!

Well, they’re here. In fact, they’ve been here for an entire week and I am just now blogging about it!

Amber, my wonderful sister, and her fiance Nick have just moved from Rapid City, South Dakota to join us in the Scenic City! A big move, for sure, but they are adjusting very well! They are living with us while they home search, job search, and get their bearings. So rest assured they will now be regular fixtures on my postings! I think Nick will acclimate quite well to our incessant and obsessive love for documenting life through photography! I suppose he doesn’t have much of a choice 🙂

So, here is our week in review! Amber gave Alana her notebook and a pen, for which Alana seemed very enthusiastic! She even decided the ottoman needed some extra decoration 🙂

Nick and Amber have made a couple of dinners for us, including stuffed peppers early in the week, and last night, some delicious steak stir fry. Yum.

Nick is an awesome cook, but never bakes. In fact, he has never baked anything! So, Rich decided to initiate him to the Smith household by collaborating on our Cook’s Illustrated New York Style Cheesecake recipe! It’s a tad cumbersome, but Nick enjoyed the process and we all enjoyed the outcome! Hello!

For posterity’s sake, here is Nick’s first baked item!

It was perfect!

Okay, that does it for our first week together, but stay tuned for our workshop post…coming right up!

A wise man once said that house guests who cook are house guest who don’t overstay their welcome. Of course for me it’s house guests who do dishes! Speaking of dishes, what’s in the stuffed peppers? they look delectable!

Welcome to Chattanooga Amber and Nick!

    Welcome Amber and Nick!

I love this entry. When I first saw the title, Living in TN, I had the mindset of “Only in TN!” until I saw what is really was. While growing up in TN, I collected images in my mind like a man riding his John Deer mower and holding an umbrella while driving between homes, not even mowing. LOL! Now Amber and Nick can start collecting their own memories, precious and odd!
