Kellie and I decided to get together on Thursday for a Valentine cookie making day along with some photography practice since it had been a couple of weeks.
When I first arrived, Jason told me to send Alana up to Kellie’s craft room but that I had to stay in the kitchen because Kellie had a surprise for me. I laughed and waited while Kellie and Alana conspired, and then Alana came toddling into the kitchen wearing the cutest apron ever. Kellie had made it for Alana specifically for our cookie-making day, and she was in the finishing stages when we got there. Kellie said my reaction was priceless, but it was only because Alana looked ADORABLE wearing her new apron. I freaked out. Kellie is so thoughtful!
Here are some photos of little ‘Lana in her new pint-size domestic getup. I adore it.
Princess in an apron…
While I was attempting to get some good photos of Alana wearing her apron, Jason came to the door to visit and totally entertained Alana. She thought he was the funniest thing ever, and I snapped away, resulting in the following collage.
A more serious baby, snacking on crackers…
At lunch, Alana completely insisted on feeding herself. I think the days of clean parent-directed feedings may be long gone. She wanted that spoon…regardless of how much applesauce failed to end up in her mouth 🙂
Thank you so much for these pictures, Kellie! I love them!
Done with lunch, cleaned up, and snuggling! I think this is my favorite that Kellie took of us that day!
After lunch, I put Alana down for a nap and Kellie and I baked the cookes. While they were cooling, we ventured into Kellie’s background for some practice with light. We experimented with backlight, resulting in some sun flare, and we played around with front light, and attempted (but did not succeed) to capture side-lit images of each other. Light is gorgeous and wonderful, but can sometimes be tricky to master! We are learning to utilize light rather than to be ignorant of it or to fight against it. Always learning!!!
Back in the kitchen, we mixed some icing for our sugar cookies. We decided to make three different shades of PINK since it was Valentines Day!
I was excited about this photo I captured of Kellie mixing the icing colors — while the details in the foreground delineate the occasion!
Cookies in progress…
And being documented!!! Like I said, always practicing.
When Alana woke up from her nap the cookies were done! I gave her one, and despite her concern that the icing was making her hands “dirty,” she seemed to love it!
My little big blue eyes…
Thanks for this fun shot of me, Kellie!
And we’ve been forgetting to self-portrait at the end of our days together, but we absolutely need to be intentional about it!
