Happy Belated Easter, everyone!
I haven’t yet blogged about it, but my family (minus my dad, who flies in on Thursday) is in town, and we are, as usual, having an amazing, wonderful time. I am completely useless when I am with my family, since it only happens a few times a year, so I have not posted any photos yet, nor have I answered emails, Facebook messages, kept track of my phone, etc.
For Easter Sunday, we went to the early service at church together and then headed off to enjoy the afternoon at my gracious in-laws home. I love their yard, and we had a blast tucking eggs in every nook for the older kids, but also leaving some in plain view for Alana and for Adeline, both too young to know how to search for them. It was Alana’s first Easter Egg hunt, so Rich brought his camera in order to document it properly!
Alana did not disappoint. She was SO adorable and so completely entertaining that I felt like a kid again, as if I were on my own quest for eggs. We started off, handing Alana a bucket and showing her an egg in the grass. She walked up to it, picked it up, and watched us as we told her to put it in her bucket. She did, and her enthusiasm grew with each egg she spotted. By the end of the hunt, she was gasping and squealing (and at one point, even dancing!) when she discovered new eggs – and I entertained the thought that if she got any cuter I might die.

On her way to apprehend a wonderful little egg:

Wondering what in the world the egg is for anyway!

Seriously getting the hang of it!

About midway through the hunt, Alana plopped down, reached into her basket, grabbed an egg, and handed it to me, grunting – clearly asking me to open it. I think it dawned on her that there must be something inside the eggs to make the bigger kids want to search for and collect them
So, I bit a peanut butter M&M in half and gave her the pieces. She enjoyed the candy and then immediately got back up and decided that the eggs were in fact worth the effort. So her search resumed.

Sibling love! There will be many more family photos to come, including some with my mom, very soon!

Evidence of m&m’s:

Smith family cousins! It is so much fun to watch the kids have fun and enjoy traditions like this one. I loved every second.

Hooray for baby’s first easter egg hunt!
And on a completely unrelated side note: You can check out the main wedding blog from the wedding that I shot with Rich on his blog. I’d posted a teaser here since it was my first wedding, but the full post can be found on the RSP blog – so head over there and leave us some love!
