For Alana’s first time at the aquarium, I knew I wanted to wait until my family was here so that we could go all together. It was something that I knew everyone would thoroughly enjoy, and I was excited about sharing the experience!
So, for my family’s last day in town on Saturday, we spent several hours perusing the crazy, amazing, unbelievable creatures at the Tennessee Aquarium downtown. It was a blast! Nick’s family, The Nolen’s, were even able to join us for the adventure! The only disappontment was that Rich had an engagement session and could only be there for an hour. He spent the time with Alana and then had to slip out. He LOVED watching Alana see so many new fish and animals!

Here is Uncle Shawn with Alana inside a tank!

The newlyweds! A wedding blog will be coming soon – Kellie and I were the official photographers and I’m hoping to have a blog up tomorrow! Check back!

I tired to get photos of Alana’s face with the fish she was looking at, but it didn’t work too well. It was a VERY challenging place to take good photos, and I did not do a very good job!

Yay! Papa is here!!!

Sweet details that I never want to forget as Alana grows up: the way it looked when she was on papa’s shoulders and his big hands held her in place. Precious.

Looking at (and touching!) sting rays with Aunt Pixie!

The butterfly garden! Shawnie’s patience paid off and finally a butterfly landed on his finger! I love that I was nearby and able to capture it!

Then one landed on Amber’s finger and Alana got to see one close up. She was enthralled!

Then dad got one, too, and passed it off to an eager little girl!

The group, minus the Nolens who had walked on ahead at this point! But sadly, I don’t think I could have handled a self-portrait with any more people, anyway!

The iconic aquarium architecture - with the fam in the foreground!

Yay! Fun family times! Stay tuned for the wedding installment!!!
Edit (by Rich):
I had to leave early because of an engagement shoot but my heart was with them the whole time. So sad I had to miss Alana’s first time at the aquarium. I took this photo when I got across the river to meet my clients:

(This is a variation of a beautiful photo taken by my good buddy Matt Dunmore that can be seen here!)
