Alana is changing so rapidly right now that I get a little crazy just thinking about it.
She’s 17 months now, and her personality continues to bloom. She’s been rewarding me with hugs and snuggles at bedtime as if to say that even though she can’t verbalize too much, she wants me to know she loves me. She’s totally thinking about how bad she feels for keeping me up all hours of the night as a newborn
Really, though, it’s amazing how it all becomes worth it every time she flashes me a big grin, or utters a little giggle.
She’s learning new words, babbling like crazy, and entertaining everyone around her. She understands a good bit of what I say to her, and obeys very well. I’ll enjoy it while it’s easy — I hear things get a little more challenging around two![]()
She’s becoming more giggly and plays peek-around-the-corner with me, among other spontaneous, toddler-inaugurated games.
She can say her name as of about 3 weeks ago, which sometimes comes out two sylables, “Na-Na” and sometimes surprisingly accurate with three sylables, as “A-Na-Na.”
Um, ya, CUTE.
She LOVES to run away from me shrieking as she runs into Rich’s arms, and typically greets Rich with a squeal or two when he gets home from work.
She loves, loves, loves to be outside and gets giddy when she spots a cat or dog. So, I try to take her outside every day – even if just for a few minutes – and some days I feel compelled to take my camera and capture the simple memories. Yesterday I snapped some photos of her playing and wanted to blog them – just because!

This is alana…running. She furrows her brow, gets really serious, and takes off. Her chubby cheeks even bounce as she runs. Hilarious. She’s on a mission.

I love how toddlers crouch. Something about it is SO adorable to me.

Pointing to the area where the kitty cat usually comes from to visit us. It’s nice being able to enjoy other people’s animals and not having to take care of one! That’s the way we roll around here!
Don’t get me wrong, we like animals (and Alana loves them!), but to me, it’s way more fun to enjoy them without having to feed, house, and bathe them…not to mention vet visits, home repairs, stinky house, allergies, and fur problems! So, we bask in our occasional cat and dog visitors and call it a day!

Obsessed with blowing dandelions and then, for some reason, will not put down the empty stems. She accumulates them until her hands are completely full and then discards them all at once![]()
