On Saturday, Alana and I had the priviledge to go to sweet little Tucker’s first birthday! Rich had a wedding that day, so Alana and I headed over to Riverview park to join the celebration.
I knew that Jennifer had planned to have fun activities for the kids, so I brought my camera, excited for the chance to capture some new experiences for Alana (If my blog readers don’t know this about me yet, I LOVE to document her “firsts”). We arrived a few minutes early, and, not surprisingly, Jennifer had decorated wonderfully so I grabbed a few shots of the decor!
Pinwheels: the party theme! Absolutely, amazingly, undeniably adorable!

Self-portrait while alana looked on at some balloons! She wasn’t feeling the love!

Tucker arrived to his party all smiles! Check out those eyes!

Party details!

Our friend Cemele offered Alana her first taste of cotton candy…blue cotton candy, to be exact. And she liked it.

This might be my favorite image of Alana from the party…soooo cute. I love the blue goop on her mouth and the colorful background. Love.

There was even a little petting zoo with chicks and bunnies! It was Alana’s first time holding a bunny, and she was hilarious. She was completely preoccupied with the bunny’s ears…

So she decided to part the ears and give the bunny a kiss right on top of it’s head. Um, these are the times I’m so thankful to be a nerd who carries my camera around with me. For these memories…

A little too aggressive and not quite understanding the meaning of the word “gentle.” Poor bunny. I didn’t let her torture it for long.

Waiting for another bunny…

Thinking about grabbing a bunny out of someone else’s arms…

Doing a much better job with bunny #3…

…and taking off across the park. It’s so interesting to me how independent she’s become in certain scenarios. She was SO clingy for much of her first year that I wondered what kind of toddler and young child she’d be. Turns out she’s become fiercely independent, but on her own terms and in her own way. She still seems to love being with me and being held, but at the park that day, she didn’t even turn around to see if I was following her. Here’s praying I’m always on alert and don’t let her get out of my sight. It’s scary!

She even got her face painted! Of course, it was only a matter of seconds before she smeared it, but nonetheless…

Here’s the adorable cupcake that we tore into. It didn’t stand a chance

Another thanks to Chris and Jennifer for having us, and for hosting such an incredible, fun, kid-friendly event! Happy birthday to Tucker!!!
