This post is a bit overdue, since Rye is a week old now, but last week I had the chance to visit my dear friend Bri and her husband Trevor at the hospital the day after their precious little one was born. Rye Caedmon was nothing short of perfect, and I am so excited to share some photos here!
Rye was delivered at Erlanger Women’s East, a beautiful campus and very nice, comfortable suites. Bri’s labor was fairly short for a first baby at only about 8 hours! I am jealous! Maybe the next time around mine will be fewer than the 25 hours it took to birth Alana![]()

The precious sight that greeted me as I entered the room. I was so excited to be the only one there and able to document Bri and Trevor with their sweet little man.

I will be taking many more feet photos of Rye, no doubt, but this was the first, and he was wiggling and wrinkly. SO sweet.

I’ve known and loved Bri for years, and it was amazing and emotional for me to see her as a new mom. She is radiant. She’s always been beautiful, but now in a whole new way!

Details…

Rye was thinking about how upsetting life has been so far![]()

Bri has been cracking me up with her obsession with animal outfits for Rye. She got several adorable little monkey and bear outfits, complete with furry little feet:

Something about these next two images really move me. I don’t know exactly what it is…maybe the teamwork, or the peacefulness…

It takes more than one set of hands to help with a newborn…and these two definitely have it covered.

Trevor changed and Bri comforted…I love how even at they very first, completely normal cries of a newborn, a mom’s instinct is to comfort…

Trevor is going to be an awesome dad….

So sleepy…

Tenderness…

And pride…

The juxtaposition of giant daddy hands and itty bitty baby body…

Getting to know each other…

I love this next photo, because it is such a beautiful, unstaged moment between these two.
