rich and heather: the hawaii session!

Okay, so let me start this post by saying how proud we are of Leslie.

Rich and Leslie met at Leslie’s sister’s wedding over a year ago, and since that time Leslie has come in town from Knoxville quite a few times for one-on-one workshops with Rich. We have thoroughly enjoyed every second with Leslie, and are blown away by her progress. She is passionate, determined, intelligent, and has grown so much as a photographer over the past year. Rich and I are just so thankful to be part of her life, and when she offered to shoot some photos of us in Hawaii, how could we resist?

It was such a fun shoot, and it was SO cool to see the student shooting the teacher!:)She has fantastic cameras and lenses, a great eye, ever-increasing technical knowledge, and an awesome personality. Basically, she has everything she needs to be a great photographer and is already well on her way!

After shooting Brandon and Rachel’s engagement session (Brandon is Leigh and Leslie’s nephew, and his engagement session is the reason we flew to Hawaii), and a session for Leigh and Leslie (both of these sessions coming soon on Rich’s blog), we got our own session and are so excited about the images Leslie captured for us!

The ONLY thing we did not have going for us was beautiful light to work with. Every day we spent in Hawaii was sheer perfection (beautiful sunlight, clear skies, and cool breeze) but the day we scheduled our session was the only less-than-perfect day. It was overcast and super windy which was a bit tricky – but Leslie handled it brilliantly and we couldn’t be more proud of her!

Here are some of my favorites (edited by Rich and Leslie, and with Leslie’s logo!), but be sure to head over to Leslie’s BRAND NEW BLOG and tell her what an incredible job she’s doing!

The one photo that Rich REALLY wanted was of a wave crashing over the rocks where we stood. He told Leslie what he wanted – and right about that time, the sun came shining through the clouds, a wave exploded over the rocks, and this image came to life: Hello!!! Leslie rocked it!!! It was wonderful that she captured this on the first large wave because I got soaked for this shot:)The back of my dress and my hair got a bath in the Pacific!

When the sun is shining (which it does a huge percentage of the time), the color of the water is just amazing. It was hard to believe how beautiful this place was – we just had to keep reminding ourselves it was real!
