snow day!!!

Um, holy snow, batman.

I paid very little attention to the news reports (earlier today) of snow and a wintery mix because really, when it snows in Chattanooga (with the exeption of the legendery “Blizzard of 1993″), it is around for a bit, we take pictures, and then it’s gone as quickly as it came.

Not today.

Today it started snowing around 1 when I put Alana down for her nap, and it’s been coming down like CRAZY all day. By the time she woke up at 3, there was probably about an inch of snow covering our neighborhood. When I told Alana it was snowing, she immediately perked up and got VERY excited about going outside to play. I got her warm and cozy and we had a blast in the front yard. Of course I grabbed the camera, and here are a few photos of our afternoon:

I LOVE the lines (from the stairs in our backyard) in this photo. The composition just makes me really happy:)

Then our afternoon got a bit more interesting. I got a call from Rich saying that he was going to come home from the office and pick us up to go grocery shopping – because there were reports that the snow would be turning to ice and we may not be able to leave the house if we waited too much longer. Without much food in the house and the obvious fact that the snow was not letting up, we knew we needed to get to the store.

Sadly, I got another call from Rich a few minutes later who was stuck in traffic because of multiple accidents. When he finally had a chance to try to turn into our neighborhood, he was told that no one without a four wheel drive was being let in.

So, poor Rich had to park his Rodeo and walk 20 minutes in the snow, with his leather laptop bag and shoes that were NOT snow-appropriate.

He got home looking SO cold, SO snowy, and SO pitiful. I had to snap a couple photos to tell his sad story. Poor guy!

After he showered and put on some dry clothes (and we realized that there was no way that we were going to the store!) we headed back outside for some photos…which I LOVE. What is it about snow pictures? I never get sick of them because of how beautiful and WHITE they are:)Thank you so much to my hubby for another set of photos that I adore. I love you, baby.

Then I grabbed the camera for a few minutes to take a couple shots of Rich and Alana. Love these two so much:)

So that was our afternoon…and no, we still do not have any food in the house. We will be eating mac and cheese and applesauce until the roads are clear. Could be an interesting weekend.:)

I”m wondering if your hair froze and stood on end like the good old days. Oh that’s right, you have to be a fresh-from-Florida girl who goes out side in the snow despite having wet hair!

ahhh the good memories. looks like you made some new ones. love ya
