finding out it’s a…

Yesterday morning we found out Baby Smith’s gender!

After a failed attempt to find out last month at 18 weeks (another modest baby), we had a successful answer to our question now that I’m 22 weeks along!

We ran a little contest on Facebook to see who could guess correctly, and from those who guessed it, we are choosing one person at random to get an iTunes gift card. Rich’s idea…he’s fun like that:)

Let me start by saying that we were all kinda crazy about the idea of having another girl. We love it SO MUCH already, and Alana has said several times that she wants a little sister…so that just emphasized that way Rich and I were already feeling. Then there is the issue of all the Smith BOYS!!! There are so many of them in the family, and the pattern has been to have either 1) all boys, or 2) a girl followed by boys. So, we thought for sure that we’d be part of this ongoing pattern (and let me state that, obviously, we would have been thankful for whichever gender God chose to give us!).

Here we are after finding out that we are, in fact, HAVING ANOTHER GIRL!!!

And just like my blog post finding out Alana was a girl back in 2007, we asked Dr. Barker to join us for a photo again. I’m all about making sure that baby #2 gets special treatment, too:)

After we left the Dr’s office, Alana and I went to Target to pick out a toy for the new baby just like I had done by myself the day I found out Alana was a girl. I’d bought her the pink caterpillar that is shown in the blog post (that I linked to above), and it happens to be her favorite toy to sleep with and snuggle with. I told her that this time, SHE could pick out the very first toy for her baby sister, and she was VERY excited about this. After looking all around the baby aisles, she carefully made her choice. She selected this little ladybug blanket and happily hung it in her little sister’s closet in the nursery the second we got home.

Happy Tuesday, everyone, and thanks for playing along with us and for all of your support and love! We love and appreciate you!

And for all of you who voted GIRL are correct and have been entered into a fun little drawing:)
