Last weekend was perfectly divine.
The weather cooled down at night so the mornings and evenings were a wonderful 55-60 degrees. And the daytimes were sunny, crisp, and beautiful. I was in heaven.
I. Am. So. Ready. For. Fall.
I was really sad that Rich had all of our camera gear in California with him because Alana and I spent some time outside and I’d wanted to take some photos (by the way, the amazing L.A. engagement session is now on our pro blog, so check it out!). But, since I was without any cameras and lenses last weekend, I settled for some overcast playtime photos outside from this morning. We still had fun, and I’m still very thankful for the slightly cooler temperatures.
Here are a few photos I grabbed while Alana happily played with rocks, sticks, trees, and grass![]()

Something about the photo below strikes me. She looks SO grown up to me in this image.

The next two images are blurry because Alana was running across the yard (and I have NOT perfected the art of taking a sharp photo of a running toddler!), but I love the expressions, so they will go on the blog anyway!

Ponytail cuteness:

One of my favorites:

Distressed about something. I think she was upset because she wanted to see the squirrels that we kept hearing rustling around in the trees.

Chalk!

In other (exciting) news…Alana is potty trained![]()
I started officially potty training her a few weeks ago, and within a few days she was almost completely accident-free. She is doing great, with only the occasional accident (usually when I have forgotten to take her frequently enough). Our goal was to have her trained before baby girl #2 comes along at the end of the year, so we have succeeded…with a few months to spare
She’s in a pull-up for naptime (when she even takes one…she’s really trying to give up her nap, too) and at night time. Not sure how long that will last…I need some advice on that issue. But, anyway, we are excited! One child in diapers is enough for us![]()
Happy September, everyone!

These are adorable Heather! Alana is growing up so fast, so beautiful!
I love Alana’s ponytail and expressions! Congrats on potty-training! Pullups at nap and bedtime are great for toddlers. Having B in pullups and a baby in diapers is ok for us because B’s so good at dressing himself. Its routine to go right after nap, so accidents are rare. If there is an accident, i don’t make a big deal cause I can tell he already knows what he’s supposed to do. Alana’s gonna do great with all your encouragement!
xoxo
Being able to miss a nap now and then allows us to have a full day of family fun. But overall, B is happier when he gets a nap everyday, or at least quiet time in bed with books. Our best days are when B and the baby sleep at the same time, then all of us recharge
