Gingham Shirt Project!

I need to apologize…I inadvertently lied to you.

Two months ago (in early May), I posted my Chambray Shirt Project and said that it would be my last style-related blog post for “quite some time. “Well, I definitely don’t consider two months “quite some time,” but I accidentally got really excited about gingham this past month 🙂

And once I got really excited about gingham, there was no going back. I needed to do another style project in our photo booth! So I apologize for the unintentional lie, and I have learned my lesson; I won’t make any definitive statements this time around. I may or may not have another urge to complete a style project in the near future.

So, aside from my wonderfully reliable chambray shirt, these gingham shirts have become my favorite easy breezy throw-it-on-and-go summer favorites! I own 3 gingham shirts, and you will see below that I created 24 outfits with them (8 outfits with each of the 3 shirts).

3 similar shirts might seem like a lot to some people, but I’m the type of shopper who, when I find something that I love, I buy it in several colors. Especially when it’s a great deal like these shirts were. The raspberry gingham I found at Gap and used a coupon to purchase back in May. The aqua and blue I stumbled upon at Old Navy last month and they were such a fantastic deal that I bought two at once. These “steals” are particularly exciting when you consider the almost identical styles at JCrew for more than what I’m able to pay at this stage in my life.

And like my chambray shirt, I find these tops incredibly versatile, which is my favorite characteristic in an article of clothing for several reasons. I want to look good, feel good, and stay fairly up to date with fashion trends, but I need it to be simple (pieces that are easy to coordinate with), I need it to be affordable (I refuse to incur credit card debt), and I need it to be conducive to my life as a mom (it needs to be casual enough for everyday use). These shirts definitely fit my criteria and are an all-around WIN for me! And extra bonus: the hubs loves them on me! Every time I stepped into the photo booth he’d say “Oh! I really like this outfit, too!” And random side note: he graciously shot this project for me since I’ve been working so hard this month. Most of you know I stay at home taking care of our girls, and that I also work most evenings for our photography business. So he was happy to do this again for me, even though it’s way more fun for me than it is for him. He’s pretty amazing.

I hope that you enjoy some of these outfits! I’m also excited about figuring out some Fall outfits for these gingham shirts. Maybe that’ll be my next project: taking these tops from summer into fall and seeing what I can come up with that involves boots and cardigans and gingham 🙂

And if you are interested, you could check out my red jeans project, green jeans project, chambray shirt project, and polka dot shirt project!

Side Note: All of these clothes came from one of the following stores: Gap, Target, Old Navy, Express, Fossil, American Eagle, Anthropologie, or Forever 21
