I’ve blogged about the fact that Alana has been taking gymnastics for the past few months and loving it. And that is still the case. In fact, this Friday she will be part of the Gymnastics Center of Chattanooga’s “Summer Olympics” and I’m a little giddy about photographing that, because we haven’t brought a “real” camera to gymnastics since her very first class!Β She just completed her third 8-week session and has gone from “super roos” to “mighty monkeys” to “beginner 1” in that time. She has loved every minute of it, and is now deliberating about whether she wants to continue in gymnastics or ballet.

But all of that was a side note to this post! A few months ago, my friend Brittany and I got an email from a fabulous friend-of-a-friend and she explained that she’d be teaching a six-week summer ballet/tap class for 4-5 year olds. She wanted to know if we were interested in putting our girls in the class with her. Well, Alana and Ada adore each other and all things girly, so Brittany and I decided that it was a perfect opportunity to put them in a class together and die of the cuteness that would ensue. And die we did. The only drawback was that for the first 5 weeks, the parents were not allowed in the practice room. So until their 6th and final class this past Monday (when they performed for us), Brittany and I had to sit in the lobby and corral Everest and Sierra…busy toddlers just two months apart in age.

But on Monday we got to see the fruit of the girls’ labor. Grandmama and Grandpapa came to cheer Alana on, and I took iPhone video while Rich took the photos below. Before the recital began, we grabbed a few shots of the girls running around on stage. Sierra LOVED it, because she usually wasn’t allowed in this room or on this dance floor. Before we left the house, I even found a ballet leotard that my mom had gotten for Alana when she was younger and it happened to fit Sierra perfectly. So I deemed it a fun outfit for Sierra for the evening, even though she would obviously not be performing πŸ™‚

And one last note: due to the DIMLY lit room, these might be the grainiest photos ever! But hey, they’re memories and I love them anyway!

Then the performance began, which consisted of two songs; first a tap number and then ballet. It was short-lived but completely adorable and hilarious. Ada is to the right of Alana and they were undeniably cute.

For their ballet number, Christine had them incorporate little toy teapots. It was like an explosion of little Disney Princesses πŸ™‚Β

As soon as the performance was over, Sierra ran up to Alana and gave her a big hug. It was as if she was proud of Alana! Can 19 month olds be proud of their big siblings???Β

Ada and Alana!!!

Then we let Sierra loose one more time for a few minutes πŸ™‚Β

And lastly, the girls with their sweet instructor, Christine! Thank you for being so incredible, Christine! We are thankful for you!Β
